Established in 2009 to service the Johannesburg and Pretoria areas, Scan4U has developed into one of the leading Scanning Companies in South Africa. Scan4U Scanning Services was formed by two individuals, Mark Ehmke and Gavin Hughes, both CDIA+ professionals, who held the belief that technology had overtaken the methods being used by most of the existing document scanning companies in South Africa at that time.

Mark Ehmke had been involved in the Business Process Management industry for more than 11 years before moving onto Document Scanning and Document Capture for the next 8 years. During this time he was involved in numerous strategic BPM / Document Capture projects including Alexander Forbes, Nedbank, FNB, Telkom, Xstrata, various Government Departments (Home Affairs, Justice and Defence) and the Reserve Bank of Malawi, to name a few.

Similarly, Gavin Hughes spent 18 years working on and with various hardware components (including Fujitsu, Bowe Bell+Howell, Kodak, Plasmon, HP and ATG Cygnet) and software associated with Document Scanning and Capture. He was also the Managing Director at Imagecare, the Document Scanner Maintenance and Repairs company.
